How to avoid focusing on rating, for competitive chess progress

ChessTournament
3 tips on this important aspect of the game.

1. You should never stop focusing on rating, especially your official tournament rating. This is the only way you will take the game seriously and get better.

2. Your rating will indicate your progress, and must be taken seriously. If someone tells you that you should not focus on your rating, they are lying to you. They themselves most certainly focused on their rating to get to their current level/title.

3. If you do not focus on rating, you will lose some of the required drive and motivation to learn necessary to any strong chess player. Data analytics and chess statistics over time are also necessary and useful in multiple ways.

Moral of the story, you should focus on rating, if you want to improve that is.
