Will closing an account fully remove my name from the games I played?

So, I played few games, if I delete/close my account, will someone still be able to look up the games I played using my username?

Your post made me want to look up your games, of which there are only six since January this year, all casual and all played against the same opponent who incidentally opened their account on the same day as you, and also never plays rated and only plays against you.

I am sure we all have some games we would rather no one saw, in my case because they were blunderfests. But it's a bit extreme to close your account to hide them, I mean, if you do that you then can't play any more games so...it would be a bit counterproductive surely?

To answer your question, if someone searches your username after you close your account, all they will see is "This account is closed" but former opponents will still be able to see your games in their game history, which in this case is only one person, so they will be able to see the games, unless they also close their account at the same time...

Well, we are all perfect player here and we wait for the ones who commit errors and laugh about the games they play. So he don't likes to be the only one who is laught upon. Is there anything in the world that sounds more logical to you?

PS: Don't list all the things here that sounds more logical to you please.... i fear that could be a little bit to time consuming ;-)

QueenRosieMary: Chess Boss by day. Super Sleuth by night!
Looks like Ding forgot about the prep leak and just now remembered that these games are publicly available even if they are casual. Dont worry, casual games wont appear on the open lichess database though, they can only be accessed by using the account/its personal database. If you close your account the games wont appear when your username is used in advanced search. World championship prep is safe.

My understanding (and somebody please correct me if wrong) is that this isn't entirely accurate or could be unintentionally misleading (at least if I'm understanding the point regarding "only one person"). While searching for their games using their name through the Lichess interface might not be effective, the games are still there for anybody to see. I could, for example, go to their opponent's game history and see the game there. Or, I could download the full Lichess database and use my own search tools to find it.
And that's pefectly right, IMHO. It would be unfair if some games I played disappeared from my history. Just yesterday or the day before I was linking one of my earlier games as an example and noticed that my opponent's account has been deleted in the meantime. It would be wrong if I couldn't see the game or refer to it just because my opponent decided to delete the account for whatever reason.

That's exactly why I want to close this account, I opened it as a throwaway account to play few games with someone, and few days ago I accidentally posted this account's username somewhere else, and I don't want people to look it up for some other reasons I have. Anyways, thanks for the reply.
