U1200, U1600, U2000 tournaments

I know a lot of people request it. So I just want to keep the pressure here ;-) .

I'd like to compete in tournaments, but seriously as a 1450ish player, I can't even think about playing in tournaments since the average rating is always around 1700 and up. Sub 1600 players always stop playing after few games because getting crushed for an hour is not fun at all...

Could you at least try to fit these once in a while instead of these crazy thematic tournaments? :-P

Yeah good request. I'm always so excited about playing a tournament. And I reserve time for them. And then just loosing against much stronger players :(

The only real problem I can see with this is that there is a ranking for the number of tournament points obtained. This would have to be fixed so that that ranking only tracked points for the open tournaments, as a 2000 player could easily lose a bunch of points and then get to the top of that list this way since he would have easy wins.

One of the (many) things I like about lichess is the fact that all the tournaments are Opens. I played rating restricted tournaments on chess.com for a few years, and there I found losing to the mass of sandbaggers out for tournament trophies much more frustrating than losing against obviously stronger players here.
As a sub-1600 Blitz player I lose most of my tournament games, but there are two advantages: 1. I usually play against players rated +/- 100; by playing against those rated maybe +300 or more I learn a lot (I like to think); and 2. my rating doesn't suffer; on the contrary: losing the majority of games with a score of -1 or -2 rating points is more than compensated for by the odd win against an 1800+ player who's gone berserk and overreached himself on clock management.
