Project Manhattan

Year: 1942
Location: Somewhere in America

A secret project was underway, one that would change the course of history and unleash a new era of science and technology. The project was code-named Manhattan, after the borough where it was first conceived. Its goal: to create the world's first atomic bomb.

But not everyone was interested in the destructive power of the atom. Some were fascinated by its potential for creativity and innovation. They saw a different way to harness the energy of nuclear fission, one that would challenge the conventional rules of chess and create a new variant of the game.

They called themselves Project Manhattan, a team of chess enthusiasts who shared a passion for atomic chess. Atomic chess is a variant of chess where every capture causes an explosion that destroys all pieces (except pawns) on adjacent squares. The king can also be captured by exploding a piece next to it, resulting in a checkmate.

Project Manhattan was not an official part of the Manhattan Project, but rather a clandestine group that operated under the radar of the military and the scientific establishment. They used their access to the facilities and resources of the Manhattan Project to conduct their own experiments and tests on atomic chess. They developed new strategies, tactics, and openings for this explosive game. They also organized tournaments and matches among themselves and with other atomic chess players around the world.

Project Manhattan is waiting for you. Are you ready to join?
