Etiquette around offering rematch

I know on some other chess sites, the person may not even be asking you specifically for a rematch. If they just send out a general seek to everyone and you still have your game with them open, their seek can be shown to you as a rematch request.

I don't think that happens on lichess, but I could be wrong.
Seems like it would be much less effort to hit a button to either accept or decline the rematch than to think about whether it's proper etiquette to be offered a rematch. :-D
Here is a novel idea: What if it doesn't show rematch offers, but instead, if both players request a rematch, it starts?

The downside would be that you might lose the chance to "be challenged" and then accept. The upside would be nobody being annoyed by out-of-place challenges. Less stress and drama and maybe a guiltless click on the challenge button. Could lead to more rematches.

Thoughts?
Interesting to see the various points of view, often quite remote from the way I see it. What I find annoying about rematches is when someone repeatedly ask for it after you have declined and are looking at the game. In fact I see no reason why it's even possible to keep asking after request has been declined. Also of course it's annoying if people complain when I decline the rematch. Other than that I can ask rematches in all circumstances for whatever reason, and I never mind rematch requests, either. I find it weird to be upset either by a rematch request or someone declining one's request.

Clever but I don't like it. I will often accept a rematch even though I wouldn't have asked for it. The fact that one player expresses the desire of the rematch changes the situation.
And regarding the original message by OP: I guess by now you have realized that some players can be very much upset when they lose! So whatever they say at that moment can be strongly influenced by it. Starting a discussion at that moment when the person insults you is not wise. I find such attitude distasteful and child-like, but you will find it even with very good (chess-wise, but otherwise uneducated) players.
Code of honour:

1.01 Try your best to accept the rematch.
1.02 Don't ask for a rematch, if you won.
1.03 Tell them in advance, if it is your last game.
1.04 Respect your Opponent, don't abuse him for your lost.

It is not a rule, it is a code.

P.S It is only for MEN. Others shouldn't try it.
btw I just didn't mention that is not complete list.
#37 I disagree. The code of honour should be:

1) Ask for a rematch if you want to
2) Accept or reject a request if you want to
3) Be polite if you communicate
